Zion has
been a
part of
the
Lyndale
community
since
1893.
We are
proud of
our
heritage
as a
Scandinavian
Lutheran
church,
and have
many
long-time
members
who grew
up in
this
church.
We
celebrate
our
roots
every
year at
our
anniversary
in the
spring,
and our
annual
Meatball
Dinner
in the
fall.
While we
value
and
respect
tradition,
we are
not
limited
by it.
Like the
pioneers
who
started
this
church,
we are
not
afraid
to
embark
on new
challenges
as the
Spirit
leads
us. Our
most
important
tradition
is that
of bold
action
based on
faith.
We are
committed
to our
urban
neighborhood,
and
issues
related
to fair
housing.
We
started
ZOOM
House, a
transitional
housing
program
for
single
parents,
in
1997.
The ZOOM
House
apartments
and
programs
provide
housing
for
those in
need,
and
tools
for
these
families
to
transition
from
homelessness
to more
stable
domestic
situations.
We have
been
active
members
in the
Lyndale
Neighborhood
Association,
and have
ties to
many
ecumenical
and
social
organizations
in our
neighborhood.
We are
always
looking
for ways
to
strengthen
and
increase
these
ties.
