Welcome to Zion!  For more than a century, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church has cultivated a rich history in the heart of south Minneapolis. We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). Our mission is to put the love of Jesus into action by: Worshipping Together, Teaching All Generations, Welcoming Diverse Individuals and Building Community in the Lyndale Neighborhood.

As a Reconciling in Christ Congregation since 1991, we welcome all people. The diversity of our congregation and surrounding community enriches us greatly, and we invite all to share in this heritage with us. 

Situated in the heart of south Minneapolis, Zion seeks to be active in building community in the Lyndale Neighborhood by opening our doors to many neighborhood organizations, ministries and events. Zion is actively involved in the community through ZOOM House (Zion Originated Outreach Ministry), an affordable housing program for families in transition and/or experiencing homelessness. Zion is home to the weekly Lyndale Community Dinner, Pillsbury Alcoholics Anonymous and Youth Farm and Market Project.

Those who come to Zion will find people who celebrate many of life's joyous occasions, but also struggle with the brokeness and challenges of life such as unemployment, homelessness, lack of food and shelter, financial burdens, mental illness, addiction, chemical dependency, physical disabilities and the challenges of parenting and family life.  Zion is deeply invested in the environment, peace and social justice and is committed to our community and the well being of the Lyndale Neighborhood – it is where the Gospel comes to life!
